My piece is a reflection of my own transition as a citizen of Bergen municipality. But also thrives from my idea and perspective of identity. My parents immigrated to Bergen from Chile in the early 70-ties. I never felt I could claim an identity as a person from Chile. Neither as a Norwegian. But I could identify as a person from Loddefjord. That gave me a feeling of belonging and also the birthplace of who I would become. As a human. Father. Friend and artist.
The piece is not of immigrants. It’s norwegian country people from the more rural areas waiting to move into their flats in the suburbs in Bergen. They lived in tents as they waited in transit. From tent to flat. Transition is a part of life. Transition requires change. And offers a new direction.
